Harding Park is a gorgeous course for its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its panoramic views. The club has two courses. There is an 18-hole course called Harding Park, and a 9-hole course called Fleming. Of course, you can always count on The City’s weather to throw you a curve along with the surprise of Fleming being much more of a challenge than you expect from a 9-hole. You can get spanked…. and not in the fun way. Both of the courses have beauty that is more than skin deep; especially if you hold a residents card and get the cheaper green fees. Harding Park has its own challenges and the old growth cypresses and view of Lake Merced make it a beautiful course to walk.
The course will be holding the 2009 President’s Cup and will be captained by Greg Norman and Fred Couples. According to the clubs website, Tiger Woods once said, “We don’t play golf courses like this very often…it’s a treat,” and the dramatic holes and course characteristics to which he was referring. The course is abundant with old growth trees and an interesting history. Overall, it’s a really nice solid course that is even better when you have a resident’s card.
