Callippe Preserve Golf Course is a new 18-hole championship course in Pleasanton, California. In addition to the tremendous views of the nearby mountains, Callippe was routed to take full advantage of the twisting Happy Valley Creek. The 11-14th holes are adjacent to Callippe butterfly sanctuaries.
The layout is challenging but fair and rewards the thinking golfer where length and power are not the most critical skills required to play this course well. The afternoon wind can play a factor. Most reviews consider the front nine a good warm up for the more challenging back nine. The par-5 18th hole requires thoughtful placement as you cross the creek twice before hitting onto an elevated green. Overall this is a must play course for the Bay Area.
