Located in Hercules; a small city at the southeast shore of the San Pablo Bay; Franklin Canyon Golf Course is nestled among the beauty of gently rolling hills and mature trees. Designed by distinguished golf course architect Robert Muir Graves, this public 18-hole regulation golf course features many obstacles to make an interesting game for all levels of players. It is approximately a half-hour drive (without traffic) from either Oakland or San Francisco.
Players of all levels can play here and depending on the time of year, it can get good gusts of wind or be very still and hot. The length of the course can easily make a full round go to 5 hours.
The parking lot is pretty far from the clubhouse and the location close to the freeway could set your car up for a break in. Keep everything out of sight so that there is nothing tempting enough to break glass.
The burger at the turn is said to be one of the best course hamburgers around, being compared to In-n-Out.
